THE BEES NEED OUR HELP!! SAVE THE BEES.
Our bees are in danger and we need to do something about it. Today there is a new campaign being launched to help raise awareness on the modern struggle of bees and the consequences of their decline. PAN UK is dismayed at EU licensing of new bee-toxic insecticide in August when the European Commission licensed a completely new insecticide for use in Europe. Cyantraniliprole is a systemic insecticide that works by affecting muscles in insects and eventually leads to death. This unusual mode of action means that it is effective against some pests that have become resistant to other classes of insecticide. Cyantraniliprole is highly toxic to bees and PAN UK is concerned that the introduction of a new systemic insecticide will further harm our populations of bees and wild pollinators. Earlier this month, a comprehensive, multi-year study showed that wild bees have suffered “long-term and large-scale declines” in their distribution and communities since the introduction of neonictinoids.
I’m also posting this on behalf of a band called Octopuses who have done a cute new song to help save bees, which is being shared widely throughout social media today:-
Hi, this is Octopuses.
We’re a band from Brighton who have written a song about bee population. We made our own informative video about the decline of bee population and how people can help.
All proceeds from sales of this song from Sept 12th onwards will go towards helping to raise bee populations. They’re also releasing a later ‘official’ single of the track proceeds of which will again go towards bees.
