My friend in Australia has a theory about my blog. He believes that if you have a blog like mine that covers life in general, it inevitably shapes the choices and decisions one makes in life because you are always looking for interesting content for a post.
I have been thinking about that idea of late. It’s an interesting concept – a bit like a cyber version of “The Dice Man”. But I don’t think that is the case – if it was I’d make sure I had FAR more interesting things to talk about at all times and anyway, I didn’t bloody ask to be stranded in Dubai by a bloody volcano now, did I???. IT”S NOT MY FAULT.
Friends have all been lovely. Texting and emailing and offering help where possible. THANK YOU LOVELY FRIENDS.
But I’m just wondering if I have any more lovely friends who can do better (nothing like a bidding war to put friends off) – who haven’t yet contacted me but are going to any minute – all about the luxury cruise ship that can come and get us and take us home. Or that want to come and get us on a private yacht? Or have a REALLY GOOD plan? Or inside information on when everything is going to go back to normal (otherwise known as a crystal ball)?.
No. I didn’t think so.
One of my lovely friend’s is stuck in Portugal. She’s the one who has been doing the marathon diary. Well guess what? She’s going to bloody miss her marathon because she’s had to re-book their flights back and the first one’s available are the day after the marathon. All that training and now she can’t compete. Just such a shame for her. I texted her to say “at least you can get pissed every night now” which might be a small consolation, but probably not.

April 17, 2010Husband kindly pointed out to me that if this had happened two weeks ago it would have cost us a fortune in hotel charges in Singapore!!! Relatives in Oz pointed out that my 5 hr delay which I was quite vocal about was small cheese compared with the events at the moment. Its all relative isnt it…..you think Dubai, not too bad, then the time goes on and you think ‘I want home’. They now say 1pm tomorrow. Just think you will be able to dine out on this story for months. take care

April 18, 2010Oh poor thing – missing the marathon after all that hard work would be just hideous. Hope you are finding stuff to do in Dubai – camel safari perhaps? Dune bashing (9yr old might enjoy that)…indoor ski slope?

April 18, 2010I found this blog while searching google. Pretty impressive too, since google tends to show relatively old results but this one is very recent! Anyway, very informative, especially since this is not an issue a lot of people can write something decent about. Take care…
