Now that I have reached a half century (and am trying to win a travel blog award) I feel it is time to share my pearls of wisdom on travel essentials in order to travelling in comfort (apart from a First Class seat – if you have this, you basically don’t need anything else).

There are a few things that you need in your hand luggage bag that are essential I have found and they include the following:-

Neck cushion

You all know what they look like and they don’t make that pretty a picture so I will leave it to your imagination. The only time you don’t need one of these is if you find yourself in First Class with a bed.

Notepad, Pen, Book, Magazines of choice

Again, your choice, no photo required.

A selection of anti-smell products

At my age you can get a bit pongy after a flight. Make sure you include the following just in case you are sitting next to George Clooney and his wife is busy doing important Human Rights things and not with him:-

Adaptor/Cable

I have the Apple worldwide adapter, but it’s a bit like the Rubik’s Cube and I struggle to fit it all together because I am clearly specially dyslexic. If you have a Blackberry and an iPhone, then this charger is a helpful addition to your luggage. That’s if one of your children don’t nick it first:-

Salt & Pepper pots

Under NO circumstances should you steal these from the Virgin Upper Class section of the plane. Cute though they are they are evil and they spill salt all over your bag – which is very bad luck. Also you shouldn’t steal things. Full stop.

S&P pots

EVEN THOUGH…I have to show you this photo because thanks to my lovely friend who spent ALL her air miles we got upgraded and I did find myself tempted to nick the salt and pepper pots – how super uncool and excited do I look:-
