I am very pleased to note that a recent Travel Trends Report for 2013 has acknowledged a rise in groups of women travelling together on holiday. In particular a significant emerging group that has been identified is that of “girlfriends holidaying with mates post-divorce,’ – WOOHOO – that’s me then. Onward and upwards.

Another significant group are the silver surfers: ‘those child-free, mortgage-free, middle-aged travellers still with a spring in their step and time and disposable income on their side’. WOOHOO – THAT”S NEARLY ME!! Bring on the SKI’s (spend kids inheritance).

“Responsible travel” is another developing area – again understandable as we all “increasingly have a conscience about booking planet-friendly holidays and the influence of Generation X and Y will impact this trend further”. Volunteering holidays and fair trade and experiential holidays where you can live and work with locals are all on the rise.

We are all becoming adventurous, further gravitating towards more once-in-a-lifetime experiences and adventures and this trend is also on the up.

‘TV programmes such as The X Factor have played their part in selling long-haul destinations, so too our seeming obsession with any celebrity and their holiday hotspot. X Factor has helped put Jade Mountain on the map, and Barbados in general, for example, due to the number of footballers with homes there.

‘All play their part in raising the awareness and the curiosity of intrepid travellers keen to experience the new, the untried and the sustainable holiday.’

This is all very good news for me. I can just about put myself in every single category. SO lots of travelling on the agenda for 2013 I hope.

    This was rather interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed working my way through it.It has inspired me to do a better job of my own blog, as I tend to find it quite difficult to come up with any good ideas to post to be fair but it has certainly broadened my horizons. I was curious what plugins you may use to help your SEO and if you can share any tips on that subject I would be very grateful? I don’t use wordpress on my main website as it does not have that feature in the control panel, as it is quite basic but I do have other smaller websites which I want to use wordpress on to give them more of an internet presence.
