We’re in Tucson Arizona (pronounced “Too-son”)! Here on business at a conference. I must remember to have T-shirts printed next time I travel with my friend and colleague that say “We are not a couple”. I wonder if it is something to do with girlfriends travelling at our age? Everyone seems to assume that’s the case. Even the guy that let us through security into the US of A asked if we were “together” – at the same time as linking both forefingers together – which I guess is a sign? THEN even worse I was introduced at the conference to the huge crowd as “her partner”. Maybe by then I was a little bit paranoid – but really? Couldn’t he have said “business partner” just to be clear?
Oh well. It’s the least of our problems until we hire a car and head back up to Phoenix and Scottsdale, Thelma and Louise style, when it will clearly go without saying…
Aside from that, the conference is great, the crowd mucho fun and we are loving Tucsan and the whole Cowboy thing going on.
It feels about 30 degrees, which is just heavenly, even if we’ve been sitting in a hotel conference room for most of it. It’s much colder in the morning and evening, but through the day – HOT. Apparently this sunshine is the norm for literally 350 days of the year. Imagine that. I would be a wrinkly old prune if I lived here, such is my love of the sun.
Downtown Tucsan was an experience last night. We went to some very cool venues under the stars. More later, I’m having internet trouble.
But in the meantime, I LOVE the fact that you can drink prickly pear margaritas and just imagine all those cowboys coming down from the hills just there yonder.
Delicious – but why is it pink?

February 28, 2015Prickly pears are pink when ripe. The juice is naturally pink.
