It was “Visit Your Relatives Day” on Friday and visit my relatives did….loads of them…it was my mother’s birthday on Sunday and so we held a sleepover in her honour on Saturday night at my house along with all three of her children and an assortment of her grandchildren – who range in age from 1 to 22 and I don’t want to even mention the range in height. Just look at my mother beside my youngest – she is shrinking and he needs to stop growing soon. He’s 6’2″ now and she’s 4 foot nothing and fits under his wing now…
A great time was had by all – we were all slightly suffering the following morning, but it’s worth it, even if small children and too much alcohol do not mix. Big children and too much alcohol don’t mix either. In fact nothing mixes with alcohol very well apart from maybe limes, mint, tonic water, coke….
My brother’s card to my mother proved to be alarmingly insightful when, at midnight we were all singing and dancing to “Bat Out Of Hell” and then wailing to “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” (I’ve always considered my brother to have a slightly worrying taste in music until we’ve had a few drinks and then wow, does Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen and Meatloaf come into their own!).
Here she is looking ridiculously perky on Sunday morning in the t-shirt I bought her years ago…worryingly getting closer to the truth every year (ha ha joke if you’re reading it!)
Cat On A Plate – didn’t seem to bothered by all the loud music!
