We have a new addition to the family and no….it is not another cat or a baby. That said, I already love it more than my three children put together and no, this is not a sponsored post.

At the Britmums Conference I won a Vitamix machine in a raffle. It’s the first thing I’ve ever won and I’m delighted with it. It is going to revolutionise how much time I spend in the kitchen (not enough time as far as my children are concerned) and SO easy to make healthy, quick, easy delicious smoothies, soups, cakes, peanut butter, margarita’s, hummus, grated cheese, carrots, you name it – it can do it.

It’s not a cheap gadget by any means – I think it must have a V8 BMW engine in because the beauty of the machine is that it can pulverise the cell walls of whole fruits and vegetables so that even the roughage is used and so there is no wastage (or mess). I’m afraid all those juicing machines that leave you with more stuff to throw away than to drink have left me unimpressed. It can make frozen sorbets in 30 seconds and NOT ONLY THAT but it actually makes HOT SOUPS, gravies and puddings! You chuck all the ingredients in, blend for 4-6 minutes and the blades turn so fast that they generate enough friction to create cooking heat. SO even when all my teeth have fallen out I’ll still be able to enjoy my meals.

My children are making smoothies by the dozen and there is only one container to wash. Easy peasy. They love it because they use the same machines in Costa Coffee to make the mango sorbet my kids all love. I wish I’d invested in one of these when my kids were tooth free and needed pureed food. I also wish I’d had it to disguise green vegetables in amongst pink fruit when my children were growing up and being ultra picky. i’d have saved myself hours of trying to hide a pea under a carrot under a potato under a smartie.

Anyway, here are a few AWFUL photos (not what I learnt at Britmums about how to present photos using correct lighting and placement) – haven’t even managed to make the glass look appealing….but still I am in the first flush of love so it all still looks gorgeous to me:-

The blender with an “It’s Easy Being Green” Smoothie – it’s even got spinach in it but apart from the colour you would never know from the taste and you can blame the colour on the grapes:-

Grapes
1 orange
Pineapple
Banana
Carrot
Spinach
Apple
Ice cubes

Something my youngest child concocted containing all manner of fruit:-
