VIVE LA FRANCE!! A triumph for France, Europe and civilisation as we know it as independent centrist Macron wins by a long way even if the far right vote is at a historic high and surprisingly the turnout for the vote was the lowest in 40 years.

What a relief and it gives us hope that we are not all sliding into tsunami of populism after all. Now he’s got to try and win a parliamentary majority in order to carry out his manifesto promises.

Personally, I think the fact that he is with a much older woman, Brigitte Trogneux is fascinating and brilliant. I have been truly intrigued by that story and yes, of course I can see the argument that no one bats an eyelid when it’s the other way round with Trump and Melania but I think it’s the fact that it puts a new spring in the step of any woman over 60 to know that there is still the chance to fall in love with a 39 year old. Albeit one that had his love imprinted when he was only 16 so in reality – we’ve all probably missed the imprint boat!

    Hear Hear!
What I think is interesting about the age gap thing is that in France, apparently. it has barely been mentioned in the press. Imagine the ‘field day’ and nasty snide insinuations the likes of The Mail. Express – and all the other tatty tabloids would have had if Mrs May’s husband was 20 years her junior….or the other way round – or, for that matter, any other form of relationship that is outside what is considered ‘the norm’!
