Felt a bit nervous getting on a plane after all the air disasters of late – just as I’m sure a lot of people were. The stories that have come out of the Malaysian airlines plane that was shot down are just heartbreaking and now, another one in Mali – again with no survivors.
We’re in Spain for a few days staying with some friends – that’s just me and my youngest son. It seems at this age and stage it’s the best way to ensure you actually get away because trying to find a time that they were all available at a cost that was feasible for me was impossible. I took reassurance at the airport of the huge number of people jetting off around the world – it’s still thankfully a very rare occurrence and even more so when my friends showed me this website they use to track planes…
You’d have to be very unlucky to be in the wrong plane when most get through quite happily – this is a snapshot of real time flights taken a few minutes ago over Europe. Unbelievable:-
SO WE MADE IT and we’re here in Marbella having this sort of time. I promise that I am reading Donna Tartt’s “The Goldfinch” and not those trashy magazines to the left:-

July 30, 2014I read the Goldfinch on a beach vacation and wished I’d gone for something lighter! (That stretch in the middle was just too, too sad for me.) So don’t hesitate to reach for those magazines.

August 9, 2014The south of Spain is picture perfect – only a bit too hot, I find. Harder to tolerate than the tropics. That table looks amazing, with those Andalusian tiles.
