Yet more Ikean disasters ensue. I am cross with myself. In fact I am a complete fu*kwit. I bought a double bed for my teenage son to fit in a little alcove. Just as we were putting together the finishing touches I realised that it wasn’t going to fit. I had measured the mattress, not the bed. How stupid is that. Now my son has an enormous bed that takes up the whole room and an enormous chest of drawers that doesn’t fit at all. Bollocks.
I am doing all the things I should be doing whilst the children are away. Visiting shower head shops and door hinge shops and carpet shops and I’m bored and cross. My kitchen looks remarkably like a kitchen now, because the granite is in place. But the granite is definitely too big for the room. We will all have to sit on my granite island to eat because there is no space left in the room for a table. All the men in the house keep telling me its fine, but that is because the ramifications of trying to resove the problem will mean broken kitchen units and cracked granite. Bollocks again.
Anyway, whilst driving to desperately dull shops I have been familiarising myself with the new Babyshambles album, “Schoffers Nation” (what does that mean?). What a work of art it is. Pete Docherty is a genius. This album will cross-over the classes and the generations and be the cool choice of music even at middle class dinner parties I suspect. Kate Moss has collaberated with him on several songs, one of them sounds ridiculously like a Stray Cats tune and I don’t think his drug addiction or his failed relationship with Kate will do any damage whatsoever to album sales. It’s uber cool and quite tuneful too.
