Twas the night after A Levels results, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse….AND IT”S THE BLOODY AFTERNOON ALREADY.

Although, to be fair, I was up bright and early sweeping up all the broken glass and a lone snail that had somehow got into the house and 25 bottles of Prosecco, several empty bottles of vodka, beer bottles, wine, you know the score if you’ve got teenagers – the post party scene is not for the faint hearted…

BUT, CONGRATULATIONS ALL ROUND they deserved to let their hair down and trash my house (to be fair, it really wasn’t all that bad – seen a lot worse). All the lovely sparkly happy people in my house last night all now know a little bit more about their future – of my daughter’s friends, they pretty much all got into their university of choice and I was so proud of them all – no more so than of course my VERY clever daughter who did spectacularly well. Even though nationally the A level pass rate has dropped for the first time in more than three decades after the tough new exam reforms begin to take effect.

As my brother pointed out in his congratulatory text to her – they will possibly never have to get over such a relevant milestone in their lives again as the A level results because it really does determine the next little stage of their future.

She was an absolute nightmare yesterday morning before we went in to get the results – shouting at everyone. She had decided somehow overnight – during which time she got into my bed and kept me awake all night as well that she was going to have to do the walk of shame to school and pick up an envelope that consisted of D,D,E.

So this is what she decided she’d wear into school so as not to be recognised:-

balaclava

Then after much emotion outside after all her classmates had opened their results she and I went off to celebrate in style with a champagne breakfast – here is my tired but happy daughter:-

Bills

Followed by a slightly pathetic decorating attempt by her at the front door and then I forgot to take any photos!! How annoying:-

congrats sign

Although I did get a very bad picture of the cake my friend brought for them all which is at the top! Thanks!!
