Little crunchy children everywhere.
Some children have gone back to school already (where did that whole summer go?) and this morning I saw parents taking photographs of their children standing tall and proud and looking slightly uncomfortable on their doorsteps or in the street in their brand spanking new school uniforms.
I watched a little girl walking like she was wearing egg shell – even I can remember that feeling of everything being strange and awkward, new bag crossed over her shoulder that she kept looking at to see if it was still there and then looking at everyone else assuming we all knew it was her big day. Well, it is her big day.
My baby boy has started big school. How old do I feel. I took photos of the two children I have left in the country who aren’t in prison and realised that perhaps that was to be the last photograph I’d ever take of them standing on my doorstep in their shiny new school uniform together, because in about 3 days, it will all become normal and everyday and not worthy of capturing on camera anymore.
My son had to fill in a “personal passport” for RS – draw a picture of himself and write about his interests and so on – under “IMPORTANT LIFE EVENTS” he wrote “My birth and my family’s”. Aaaah. So far so good then.

September 2, 2011PS hope is ‘cut’ friend is ok too, have been thinking about him a lot, it would make sense if he could get home to see some surgeons here incase anything extra can be done to help with the scarring and healing. the risk of infection if he still travels must be bad. I hope he is coming home, even if the others aren’t. Is he out of hospital? extra prayers put in XX

September 2, 2011Yes, you’re right, thanks for thinking about him – he is now back in the UK and seeing a specialist today. It’s just not worth the risk. Lx
