One of my brother’s oldest friends is running the marathon this year. He decided to take part in the race to raise funds for Brain Tumour UK because his father had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and was becoming quite ill. However, owing to the fact they only had limited spaces available, in order to secure a place he offered to run the race barefoot.

BAREFOOT.

Can you imagine.

His father was going to come and watch him run, but very sadly died a few days ago. Simon is now even more determined to get through the race and raise as much money as he can.

He lived in Australia for several years and spent a lot of time wandering about without shoes. BUT THAT IS NOT THE SAME. He will be running on concrete. He’s taking a tube of superglue with him because apparently if (more like when) he gets a cut he can glue it back together and carry on.

If I were him I think I’d probably superglue my feet to a couple of paving stones and run with them on. Would be easier and less painful.

Anyway. My brother is going to watch him. It will be an arduous task and my heart goes out to him.

Wow it’s crazy enough to do a marathon in the first place, but barefoot in London!??
