My friend in Australia was suddenly desperate for some interesting news on what was going on over here – I emailed her something like this:-
It’s 11.15pm Just back from a night out with girlfriend. As I’m typing this my daughter is sitting behind me at the table with four friends eating a curry takeaway. They appear to have had a few drinks and I suspect that my 18 y/o son might have purchased some alcohol for them in my absence. Have found many suspicious empty shot glasses in the shed. Somebody has managed to break my fridge so that ice is coninuously pouring out all over the floor and they are all finding it hysterically funny and can’t speak properly and there is one poor boy who can’t cope with scary girls and daughter is telling me as I type that one of her brothers friends tried to chat up her friend which was “gross”…and I was thinking you’d better get used to it.
We are having the most boring half term holiday ever. Kids refusing to merge and do things together. All getting up and going to bed at different times. Daughter been away for a few days with a friend. Youngest completely bored because I don’t want to go to the zoo/adventure park/Madame Tussaud’s. In fact I’m working here and there and haven’t really made any plans for him. Must get son to take him to cinema later in the week to help out.
So what else is new?
Son came in much later so just to update you on him – very sweetly did his “pre-lash” at my house mixing with my daughter’s friends (“have you ANY idea how expensive it is to buy drinks out?” is his excuse) and when I saw him this morning he was sporting a series of majorly impressive injuries. Face has skid marks on them from when he fell over and carried on sliding along the concrete for some time. Hands ditto. Knees ditto. Red and raw like when you have a big fall aged THREE. “I don’t understand why I keep falling over” he said as if the fact that his body was swimming with alcohol hadn’t even crossed his mind and now he wants a party here tonight to celebrate getting into the uni of his choice and what can I say? “No” I suppose, but I don’t really mind. He says no more than 12. It’s a little like the building game though I find – when you get given a price, double it. Just to be safe. It’s bloody raining though which means mud will be trapsed (sp?) all through house.
All quiet on the X front for a minute. Making me a little nervous – like something is brewing. But we’ll see. Kids are there this weekend. Their new puppy is still a star attraction.
Shall I keep going ? Or save rest until you r desperate again?

February 19, 2011The Queenager is 18 tomorrow and I’m SO glad they’re not allowed to drink here. We allow her the odd glass of wine with us, but we don’t have the worry of her going out on the lash yet.
