Builder Bloke’s ex wife sent me a text this morning. All about maintenance. This is the third text I have received from her since she married my ex husband. About how pissed off she is with BB about what he’s paying her, about what he owes and what she might do about it and then she compared what he pays her to what my ex pays me and that aren’t I embarrassed about the whole thing?
WTF.
Honestly. Does everything really in the end come down to money??
I can understand her frustrations but truly they are nothing to do with me. The text went on and on. I simply replied “Your maintenance issue with BB is none of my business. Please do not involve me”.
Of course bizarrely, my maintenance issues with my ex ARE her business because she’s married my ex.
Like many other areas, the building industry is by no means booming and builders are not finding life easy at the moment and if there is going to be a collapse in the housing market things are going to get even worse.
Consequently I have come up with a plan for BB. Actually my friend in Australia came up with it. He and his team should go out to Queensland and help them rebuild their houses after the floods because they don’t have enough tradesmen available to do the job. Sadly, as of this morning they can then go and save Christchurch too. In fact the whole of the Southern Hemisphere appears to need saving. Then maybe he could go on to the Middle East…..
We could film it on my Flip camera – it would be a Crocodile Dundee in reverse. He already is the Jeremy Clarkson of the building world. I think it would be hilarious and it would keep him busy and in paid employment so that his ex wife stops texting me. One small problem might be that he is just a little bit too far away to commute to see his children (and me) regularly.
Anybody want to sponsor them? Are they too old do you think? Anybody know about temporary working visas in Australia?

February 22, 2011I’m so sorry about BB’s ex.
I regard myself as the ‘nice’ kind of ex-wife and actually have never sent my ex or his new wife any such text, but he has had emails about money or lack of. I keep it strictly between him and me. So I’m with you on that.
As for heading south, very good idea. It’s two-fold. Gives BB work (thus money) and also a sense of self-worth at helping others. But distances is a problem.
Look forward to your updates. 🙂

When you were in Australia didn’t you realise how much you missed him. Send him there for a while, there will be Wedding Bells!
