We are doing quite well. We have some ideas for plot. Characters. Even a bit of a twist. Found 15 beats (whatever that means). We’ve bought another essential book called “How To Write A Movie in 21 Days”. So far so good. We’ve spent about 4 days on it so far.

Before the meeting my friend emailed me saying:

“Having watched BAFTA awards which is where we will obviously be next year and getting top tips about acceptance speeches – just one thing – who goes first?” Suggest we put it on agenda for meeting three so that we can practice acceptance speeches before eating power lunch – this time (instead of a fishfinger butty) I’m thinking baked beans with a twist (not sure what yet but working on it)”.

I emailed back warning her that baked beans would not be the” power lunch” we had in mind – would be more like “powered by baked beans” for the entire rest of the day, which is an entirely different scenario.

Beyond that we invented some characters. Decided what they were going to be wearing and who would play them. Fell about laughing. Made sure we were in it and then she said “we need to make sure we get across that you’re a really crap cook”

Anyway. I then asked a friend if we could borrow a script to look at because we have absolutely no idea how to structure it. She advised us to get some software called “Final Draft” – it’s very good – but it seems very expensive. A tweet friend sent me message saying download Celtx it’s a free software package – this seems almost identical – is there a massive difference does anybody know?

Ha ha ha. Love the cart before the horse approach. A bit like me in my writing class the other day. I said it was always a worry when people thought writing was autobiographical – I mean, I’d hate to be sitting there on morning television trying to explain that I wasn’t really a junkie, secret prostitute, or abusive mother. I was kidding, of course, I’d say anything if they interviewed me on morning telly!

worcestershire sauce in your beans gives them a twist – that is very Jamie Oliver and I reckon that would make it count as high powered (I’m really not in your league am I?!)

I thought you had Handbag action items for meeting 3 and I still have a bath full of maltesers waiting to be collected. Honestly, you really are letting things slip. Anyhoo, if you need someone one to proof read your Final Draft I think you should ask me ‘cos even I knows that Celtic doesn’t have an x in it. I’ve seen the football results…

Oh dear. I’m not cross-referencing enough am I? We STILL haven’t bought shiny bag and STILL haven’t watched one movie yet together so no need to open the Maltesers yet. Will be doing so quite soon. Now wish I had lots of friends who are BAFTA judges so that we could be seeing all the latest films. Lx
