I am SO disappointed with myself.

I read the other day that it was OK to be the oldest person to work in an office and also OK to be the oldest person in the room or at a party – the only thing that wasn’t OK was to be the drunkest oldest person – that wasn’t considered a good look. So. Having taken that advice onboard and In an effort to avoid being the oldest, newest, most pissed person at the Christmas party – I actually left EARLY.

FFS.

I can’t believe it.

I left the Christmas party early (which was a shame because it was really fun), so as not to get too pissed and then I went somewhere else to meet my friends to go home and ended up staying there so I got pissed anyway.

What was the point of that?

I should have been bonding with all the gorgeous young things in the office and danced on the table and listened to all the office gossip that I wouldn’t have remembered in the morning.

Now, instead, all I have is a hangover of massive proportion and a vague memory of getting home and no bad behaviour Christmas party stuff to smile at all day long.

Also I had designated myself official photographer for the evening and guess what? No photos. Not one.

Absolute rubbish.

    I am laughing in solidarity. It was our office party last night and having stayed sober for the whole evening I have decided that I am now a boring old fart!! Back in the day i was up for dancing on tables and staying out all night. Half the fun was the next day’s gossip. Now, even the gossip is boring! Next year I will be back on the gin!!

    If you were in Canada, I would have said: “Good for you.” As boring as it sounds. To be seen as having a little “too much” fun at an office Xmas party, even if no harm comes to anyone or anything, can be a career killer. But you are not in Canada. Which means that you will have plenty more opportunities to have fun at an office party before long.
