So. The race is on to find the best hotel in the world. I am obviously not in the race, being a single mother of three with a full time job who has no time for reviewing hotels. Still. I can always pretend that there is a race I’m involved with and anyway, we can all dream and occasionally take a holiday if we’re lucky.

I was lucky enough to spend a night in Claridges hotel in London – just off Bond Street, a little while ago. What an amazing experience. Such history. Such grandeur in Art Deco form. I love that so many famous people have stayed there and enjoyed such a gorgeously luxurious hotel in the heart of London.

The service is impeccable. We ate at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant which was very expensive but impressive. It has such a great location that you can shop, drink, eat, stroll, be a tourist, do whatever…..the breakfast was lovely and the waiter gave me a bag full of teeny weeny little pots of honey, jam and marmalade all labelled with the Claridges branding to take back to my children.

When I’ve saved up enough money again, I will be back. Together with a better camera as I’ve taken woeful photographs of the experience, but you get the general idea:-

When I’m old and my children have left home I’m going to live there. If nothing else, the lift is better decorated than my house – I believe it’s the oldest lift in London and it has a sofa to sit on, so I can sleep there if necessary and go up and down.

I love hotels especially expensive ones. Pity I can’t afford them nowadays. But I can dream. Thanks for the pix!
