It was my 8 year olds class assembly yesterday afternoon. I bumped in to another parent on the way up to school :-
“So what’s your son going to be in the show?” I asked her.
“A carrot” she said.
I couldn’t stop laughing. Which was rude of me. I hope I didn’t upset her. She didn’t laugh when I told her my son was going to be a kiwi fruit.
Don’t the teachers know how much damage they can do to a child giving them roles like that? I NEVER got over being cast as a sea urchin in “The Waning Of The Moon”. I still can’t wear green tights (which is probably a very good thing).
It was a lovely show. Their teacher had done a very good job and she was clearly delighted with them. I noticed she’d put on a bit of weight since last time I saw her. I discussed the possibility of her being pregnant with a friend. We weren’t sure. My son came home and said “my teacher is expecting a baby – she told us today, but I already knew and when she said “I’ve got some very exciting news I whispered in her ear that I knew she was pregnant because she’s had a bobble under her jumper for ages now”.
That’s quite impressive for an 8 year old boy isn’t it?
I’m delighted for her, but presumably that means she’ll be leaving before the end of term and they’ll have to have a new teacher.
