I am SO thrilled for my friend. She wrote a film script for a romantic comedy six years ago that was given the “green light” last Monday and today they have announced details of the film at the Cannes film Festival.

It’s got David Tennant in it and Kelly MacDonald and Alice Eve.

Details were released in “Script Daily” today:

“The Decoy Bride tells the story of a superstar actress, Lara (Eve), who just wants to marry her cute British boyfriend James (Tennant), and believes the sleepy Scottish Island of Hegg is the one place the world’s press won’t find them. But when an ingenious paparazzo tracks them down, the diva must find a decoy bride and thinks local girl Katie (MacDonald) will be an ideal replacement. But when Katie meets James, sparks fly.

The film is directed by Sheree Folkson, whose credits include the Ugly Betty and Casanova. Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae of Ecosse Films and Paul Ritchie will produce the film. The script was written by Sally Phillips (UK Channel 4’s award winning Smack The Pony) and Neil Jaworski.

CinemaNX will distribute in the UK. The film will shoot this June for 5 weeks partly on the Isle of Man and partly in Scotland. Scottish Screen are funding partners in the film.

HanWay Films is selling the film in Cannes.

“We’re delighted to have brought such exciting British talent to this wonderful film, based on such a truly funny, smart and insightful script,” Robert Bernstein said.

Steve Christian, Chairman of CinemaNX added, “We are thrilled to be working with these partners to bring to UK cinema audiences a big, mainstream commercial project such as this.”
