My 7 year old has suggested that we do a star chart to organise our life in the new house. “As I’m the naughtiest you need to give me the most stars for being helpful and then if I get 20 stars I get to buy myself a huge present. We can do one for cooking, one for washing up, one for tidying up….” he’s going to go far that boy.

I’m really not good at this domestic bliss stuff. I’m not at all a nesty person and I’m already completely bored of unpacking boxes. Each one I open has a complete pile of shit in it that nobody wants anyway. I must have accidentally kept all the stuff I meant to send to Oxfam and sent all the stuff I wanted to keep. Think it would be much easier just to throw them away unopened. I bet there would only be one or two things that any of us would miss.

don’t worry lulu, my kids tried that. as they saw that i was winning rather well, they decided that it was a really stupid idea after all. i started swearing again when they decided to scrap it.

i also hate unpacking – so much so that if i go anywhere (such as a week in england, which i did in early october) i never unpack the suitcase when i get back. i then go around swearing madly when i can’t find any of my clothes and realise months later that they are in the suitcase. still.
