OK. I got through today. But only just. I’m exhausted. MRI scan for my son went well I think – well he didn’t have a panic attack owing to claustrophobia. We’re off to see the surgeon in the morning to discuss the next stage.

My exercise class was a nightmare. I had to contend with a broken CD player, so no music to disguise outside noises, tree surgeons right outside the front door chopping off huge branches and stuffing them into their very loud tree grater lorry and peering in to the class in an annoying smirky manner and men replacing the boiler in the kitchen and drilling loudly. At one point everybody had to move closer to me because nobody could hear what I was saying and all I wanted to do was stop the class, stomp outside and shout “WILL YOU SHUT THE F*CK UP I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF A F*CKING YOGA CLASS AND TRYING TO GET MY CLIENTS TO REMAIN CALM AND BREATHE PROPERLY AND IT’S NOT WORKING”. Really not a good look for a yoga type teacher.

My daughter’s parents meeting went well. She spent most of the evening trying to get us to not see her Physics and Chemistry teacher. I did the whole thing with her father which was good. Weird. But good. Most of the teachers said lovely things about her which was brilliant.

I’m watching “Skins” with my daughter. Just on a break. It totally freaks me out. SO RUDE. NIGHTMARE to watch with your children. It started off tonight with a fairly explicit shagging scene. Then moves into a lesbian moment, a drug thing and, and, and, but it does deal (on a slightly extreme level I sincerely hope) with lots of current teenage issues. I strongly advise you though not to watch it with your children. It’s too embarrassing. My teenage son loves it but refuses to watch it with me. He has to go to his friend’s house to watch it. I find all the characters SO gorgeous and fascinating and I can’t bear the thought that Freddy’s been, well, ….. better not say. In case you haven’t seen it – and WHO is that scary psychiatrist. I know him. Can’t think what he’s been in. Doing a very creepy job.

My son has his driving test tomorrow. I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT I AM OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE A CHILD WHO IS ABOUT TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE A CAR. That makes me feel ancient and obviously worried. Out of control. He can’t drive. It’s not safe. I can’t be there telling him to slow down. He has however been driving me mad. He’s turned into the worst sort of passenger. “Mum, did you know you didn’t actually look in your mirror once before indicating and turning left”…..”I can’t believe you’ve chosen this lane”, “mum, I think you’ll find you did that manoeuvre COMPLETELY wrongly – you didn’t indicate OR check the all five blind spots”, “why did you do that????” and so on. It’s like having your husband sitting next to you all over again…..

I haven’t watched skins yet but know I wouldn’t be able to stop cringing if I watched it with my 15year old son.
I had parents evening too last night, must have been the night for them.
Good luck for your son…..gulp, can understand how you feel though. :0/

In my guide to raising teenagers not watching skins was one of the first pieces of advice I gave! Good luck to your son in his test. We’ll start thinking about driving when we’ve mastered the walking…

Being the single parent of 4 sons 2 of which have passed their driving test, the days and weeks are a nightmare following them getting a car……… 4 times in just a few months I was called out where one or other of them had ditched or their cars on our country lanes…. some very near death misses……. BUT IT DONT MEAN THAT WILL BE THE SAME FOR YOU ……. my lads seemed to turn into boy races for those first few months after passing……. they now realise not having a car cos of ditches and being idiots dont make those few boy racer times worth sh*t 🙂 – and now they drive like old men LOL

LOVE skins and I do watch it with all me lads man/boys…. nuffin is taboo in our house, we are very open about everything…. had to be really, with no ‘father figure’ around its all been down to me, so made sure awkward questions were not taboo…….. jebus, you should hear some of our discussions LOL
