NOTHING to report. Have been out and about a bit more and trying to remember to take a mask out at all times. Wondering when I will stop worrying that I’m going to asphyxiate myself with my alcoholic fumes or simply pass out from the lack of breathing and air… they’re not easy to wear. It makes me feel for the essential workers even more, so am trying not to make a fuss.
It’s been good to see more of my mother, I took her to a hospital appointment and then stayed the night, which made her feel a bit less lonely. It’s also been great to catch up with friends (and drink yet more rosรฉ). It certainly does make you feel more grateful for everyone and everything, even if there is still more than enough to worry about! (so long may it last). We did a taste test on some rosรฉs – this is one of the more expensive versions, but delicious:-
My kids and I supported the new Eat Out To Help Out drive last night on the day it was launched – it’s a very good initiative, despite the criticism, and lets hope it doesn’t reduce the number of people going to the restaurants at the weekends instead. I think it will give people an incentive to step out a bit more and feel less anxious once they’ve tried it.
Beautiful river sunset on our walk home last night:-
I’ve decided to attempt a brief escape abroad, leaving my kids home alone, which is all a little bit worrying, but I think it will do us all good to spend some time apart for a while. One is still working from home, the other just on the longest summer holiday ever. Travel plans are risky, as everyone who recently went to Spain will know. I can’t imagine what being in an airport or on a plane will be like…in masks et al. Still, it’s my small attempt to keep the tourism industry afloat in what are dire days for them.
I hope when I’m back that I don’t have to quarantine, but that’s the risk. I also hope that the Government haven’t sent the over 50’s into lockdown. As long as we get enough warning to be able to order our fake ID’s so that we can still get out and into the pubs. How ridiculous that we will be banned and the young ones won’t. It’s not our fault it’s still spreading, it’s theirs.
My garden is still growing and I’m even producing edible fruit – although you can’t eat too many figs!
Have a good couple of weeks y’all. I will try and check in if the wifi is up to it….
