Happy Christmas, Happy holidays, Happy Festive Season, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad…..and lots lots more to you all.
I hope it’s a good one and I’m sorry that stormy weather in the UK has disrupted an awful lot of people’s plans this year with widespread flooding and I’m even more sorry about war torn zones and people on their own this Christmas.
So in the words of Barack Obama “From this family to yours, have a peaceful Christmas”
I am now going to start getting ready. My house is very quiet at the moment. Only two cats and one sleeping mother in it so far. The kids are with their father but coming back around midday then everything will start hotting up (thank god). My brother arrives with his wife and their two very small children. In tow will be my sister in laws parents, her sister and nephew so it’s going to be a big one with 12 of us around the table.
My mother will get out her Christmas tablecloth which is becoming a family relic but brings back bittersweet memories wherever you sit. She’s had everyone sign the cloth each year so there are names that go way back. Then there are millions of my father, who we will all miss hugely and lots of my ex husband and a brief reminder of a long lost life. Then we will all toast our absent friends and laugh and be happy with all those that are present and look forward to our future family gatherings and what they will hold for us all.
Loads of love and happy stuffing of turkey and/or face.
I long ago gave up sending out Christmas cards, this year having sent my son off to get a Christmas haircut he took me literally and came back with this to much horror. So, I’m using it as my Christmas card this year:-
