I am SO behind with my blog posts – it’s Christmas Eve and I’m writing about my son’s 21st birthday party…and I have, like us all no doubt SO MUCH STILL TO DO FOR TOMORROW!!
But still, I must take a moment to toast my gorgeous fully grown adult boy. I really cannot believe he is so old. I mean LOOK, he was just like this only moments ago:-
He was born 21 years ago, three weeks late in Melbourne at the Freemason’s Hospital where I spent that Christmas learning how to breast feed for the first time. He was the most gorgeous baby. Didn’t sleep, but nobody actually dies from lack of sleep even though I thought I might:-
Here he is with my father when they were still living in Hong Kong:-
And now, cut to 20 years later – during that time, he genuinely has been a gorgeous, happy, easy going, incredibly generous lovely son. Of course we have had our moments but they weren’t many and then he’s had to deal with the pain of divorce, which must have been horrendous for him and I hope he isn’t too scarred from that. I’ve still got the grey hairs he caused after a spell in a Polish prison and a fight with a man who split his lip open…..but hey, we get through it and I couldn’t be more proud of him or love him more than I do.
SO HOORAY for getting this far and still looking beautiful – albeit with a massive scar on his face, an eyebrow and ear piercing and six tattoos on his arse, so not quite as perfect, but almost:-
With my youngest son as he looks now:-
and here was his surprise birthday party – with all his lovely friends and family hiding in my kitchen:-
and here’s another one from a different angle with me looking pretty delighted in the background:-
