Having been brought up in Hong Kong, I have been used to Halloween being a big event on the calender – we didn’t ever go from house to house, instead we went up 25 flights of stairs from flat to flat – more vertical than horizontal, but the same sort of thing – if we were really lucky we used to get given shiny red packets of money, really unlucky and we’d get a handful of peanuts. Trust me though, stink bombs worked a treat in a block of flats.

It has taken time here for people to get used to Halloween and certainly my generation haven’t embraced the event like the younger generation has. The kids however love it and my nearly 18 year old has asked if he can have a party and he wants to go as a pumpkin. Good grief. Daughter already has planned her costume, but I need to allocate quite a lot of time before I ask her about it. Youngest son is already planning his stategy for maximum amount of loot and wants a party. He is already stressing about whose house he’s going to be in – ideally he wants to do “trick or treating” both around his dad’s house and my house. Perhaps that should be one of the perks for a child of separated parents. Perhaps they should get that put into the order.

He already has his costume and I can see the clowns union going on yet another strike over these costumes (last week they were striking at Alton Towers over “unfair depiction of clowns” and the reinforcement of stereotypes of clowns as evil”:-

He got given this at a lovely Halloween bloggy event. We were given some food and got to watch a film and then take a costume and some bits and pieces home. It was lovely to spend some time just with him – we walked over Waterloo bridge which I just love the view from:-

And then he played dead on the train home with one of his presents, causing maximum concern to the other passengers:-

Ha ha. My 7 year old wanted to be a clown – with a knife. Yikes. However, we are working on a masterpiece of a robot costume, made out of cardboard box complete with half of an old computer we took apart.

These outfits scare me to death!! I only hope Amy doesn’t expect something quite so graphic!

Btw, I love the picture of the Maldives – absolute heaven!
