Builder Bloke and I have all the kids this weekend. My house is covered in children of various sizes emerging from rooms wearing duvets. Or sitting under duvets playing on the Playstation and shouting “you knob jockey” at each other.
It’s BB’s son’s 13th birthday, so we have been celebrating. I couldn’t decide what to get him for his birthday because everything seems slightly fraught with danger. Last year, I gave him some hard cash – but it got back to me that his mother and my ex husband thought that was inappropriate, given it was just like my ex had given the money to him.
So, what else do you buy a 13 year old boy? My daughter came up with the best idea. A puppy. How tempting is that. OR we decided we could take him to the pet shop and get him to choose anything he wanted; a snake, guinea pig or maybe naked mole rat…..
Can’t really do that. So I’ve gone for the hard cash stuck between two chocolate bars option again and never mind the criticism – do you think he cares where the money came from in the first place? Anyway, it was from money that I earnt from teaching, not from my maintenance, if anybody really cares.
