How are you all getting on with Christmas day preparations?? Probably better than me. I’ve been working this morning – so been in an eerily quiet central London which sounds awful but actually it was infinitely preferable to waking up early and then tiptoeing around 8 dead bodies until lunchtime. I am now home and nothing thus far has happened in their day – they are still all in their PJ’s playing on the Playstation.
Now for the wrap-fest.
I was reading an economist’s thoughts on what presents to give – he says “DON’T GIVE VOUCHERS” under any circumstances – “they are a truly dreadful idea” – not only because of the risk of being an unsecured creditor to the latest high street bankruptcy they can also get lost and/or forgotten and therefore they manage to be “both sterile and inefficient at the same time”. He says that Grandparents should give money because otherwise what they give is generally hopeless and that cash isn’t particularly “out of line with the Christmas spirit”. So. The answer is don’t spend much and go for the sentimental angle or give cash.
Then, hopefully I will be organised and ready to relax. I don’t have my children this year for Christmas day but I’ve got them tonight so we are all going out with friends which will be lovely.
