The streets are swarming with witches and skeletons. It gets bigger every year in the UK. My daughter has just gone off looking far too beautiful to meet some friends and my youngest son is out Trick or Treating with some friends.

Last night I ended up agreeing at the last minute to yet another “gathering” at my house for the teenage witches and ghouls. Frankly the girls don’t try very hard to look scary. Instead they all looked ridiculously sexy – they all came as cats in very short tight dresses and tights, with flesh exposed at the top. I haven’t asked them if I can post a photo, so in the meantime, here’s a “topless” picture so that you can see what I mean:-

Halloween is right up there on the calender for my youngest son. He absolutely loves it. He made biscuits this afternoon to take to his party (note the poor little sad bat at the bottom):-

Builder Bloke and I came back at 11pm last night and tried to merge in to the mad party. FAR too old with too many items of clothing on that all the girls kept threatening to slash, but at one point as we were standing in the kitchen with teenagers snogging here and there, we looked around and realised nobody was paying us any attention whatsoever – which was just as it should be. I was chatting with my son’s girlfriend and he came up and kissed her and she then said to him “that’s really inappropriate, you can’t kiss me right in front of your mum and he said “shit, sorry I didn’t realise you were talking to my mum!”. I felt like David Attenborough. We had managed to blend in to the natural habitat of the teenage world without them noticing. Probably because BB is a teenager himself. I just love all my son’s friends. We all sat outside chatting and honestly, it’s the best place to be if you want to learn some stuff about what they are all thinking and doing. Of course there was the obligatory moment where I found myself sitting in the loo with an upset girl all smeared in makeup and I was wiping her face and trying to make her feel better, but apart from that it was just great. Mainly because son + girlfriend = clean kitchen in the morning. They all tidied everything up, so apart from getting stuck to the floor, things really don’t look too bad.

I got forced to be a cat. I drew the line at my leggings getting scissored but let one of the girls draw on some whiskers and my son took a picture on his phone – its possibly the worst cat nose you’ve ever seen but at least the flash has removed all signs of wrinkles and you can’t see the moustache I’m growing as of tomorrow:-
