HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

Happy Mother’s Day to me, Happy Mother’s Day to me….(and you of course). I slightly get the impression I’m going to have to “big it up” for myself today as so far there are no signs of any children, or breakfast in bed, or cards or chocolates or large bunches of flowers. Two of my children are still in bed and the only possible clue so far as to what I might receive from my 15 year old is a dead daffodil lying on the kitchen table that he picked from a random flowerbed last night on our way home from scary 12 year old disco.

My 7 year old is at a “sleepover” and whilst I would have put “having a lie in” on top of my list of priorities, he has already blown that one by phoning me at 7.10 am to discuss his plans to organise a sale in our front garden today. Great.

Nevermind though. The fact is that not only am I lucky enough to be a mother to three wonderful, healthy, gorgeous children, but I have a mother, who is one of my best friends. You can’t ask for much more than that can you? (or would it maybe be OK to expect lovely doting husband as well…) She and my father and one of my brothers are all coming for dinner tonight.

For lunch today I am taking my children up to Soho for dim sum with 3 other girlfriends and their children (because several of us were brought up in HK). That requires booking for a table of 17!! Ridiculous. But lovely. I’m really looking forward to it.
