HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TOMORROW Y’ALL. Although I have to say I’m quite glad I’m not having to sit down to a highly charged political Thanksgiving Day meal this year in the USA with relatives who all have a different outlook on their new President-Elect. I see on Twitter that there’s been quite a few “uninvites” for Thanksgiving owing to the differing views and there is no denying that Trump brings out an extreme opinion either way, so I anticipate some highly charged debates to say the least!
I’m hoping that for us in the UK, our Christmas meal will be a little calmer – we have a month to go so perhaps by Christmas, Brexit and Trump and all things that have de-stabalized our whole entire world will have settled down a bit. I’m hoping that Nigel Farage will have stopped being invited by Trump to become our Ambassador and moved to the BVI’s and that we will have a clearer picture about our situation within the EU. I didn’t ever think I was going to be pleased to see Tony Blair making a political come-back – he’s right that there is a gaping hole to be filled by someone right now and he certainly appears to be the least worst man for the job.
All around Europe the far right are about to get in I fear. With the demise of Sarcozy in the first stages, it looks as if Marie Le Pen might actually win. What an interesting historical surprise that it might in fact be Germany and Angela Merkel who we look to for the liberal opinions and reasonable guidance within the next few years.
So on this Thanksgiving Day the best message I have found was on a wall in Berlin when we were last there. It’s a simple message of love and hope and I share it with you now. Peace be with you and…:-
