My important meeting at a well known modelling agency went extremely well. It really didn’t matter what I was wearing – everybody there was incredibly casual and lovely – the models strolling around were about 100 years younger than me and looked like they were from another planet – so no need to worry about competing….

TRYING to help teenage son sort his personal statement and think about his university choices – is it just me or is every other teenager in the same position going ballistic every time you open your mouth?

For example;

ME: “I’ve been reading that universities are offering less deferred places this year so perhaps you should look into this before deciding you are definitely going to have a gap year.”

HIM: “OMG CAN YOU STOP GOING ON AND ON AND ON ABOUT UNIVERSITIES AND GAP YEAR’S AND EVERYTHING ELSE IT’S SOOO BORING AND BLA BLA” and stomps off up the stairs.

Trying to help youngest son do his homework = Science homework has required that we have little bits of bread in bowls dotted about the house in varying states of decay. English homework which is a biography on a member of his family – he chose me! He solemnly asked me questions about my past and then responded in amazement and made me feel like a relic from the last century (which I am). I feel SO old. He had to do one on himself first – very sweet – it sort of went:-

2000 I WAS BORN!
2006 I lost my first tooth!!
2006 I joined a football club

(really he appears not to remember anything for the first six years of his life except losing a tooth! Why do we bother frankly).

    Ditto on the teen and college applications. Blimey – what the hell did I say now? Everyone is walking around on egg shells. I was never like that, I know I wasn’t.
