I’ve had one of those stressy sort of days where nothing goes quite right, but I’m relieved I’m doing a job that I can work around the kids because otherwise it becomes SO hard when things go wrong….my house is a tip. The kids stuff from the weekend is still in the hall. It’s such a nightmare for them to have to pack and move so much from house to house. I hardly feel inclined to make them put everything away. It’s not their fault. However, I can’t be arsed to put it away either. Must try harder.
The latest infestation in our house concerns ladybirds! Better than flies, but not great. WHY would we have ladybirds in the house and what could they mean?
This morning at 7.30am my 9 year old son reminded me that it’s Roman Day at his school but that he doesn’t want to wear the Roman helmet and black outfit we’d planned the night before – “everybody else is going to be wearing a toga, I’m going to look wrong” he said. So I text several friends “do u hav anything Roman we cd borrow – all we hav is a helmet that makes him look more like a chicken”. No luck. So I tell him he looks great. Completely like a fully fledged Roman Centurian (backpack not included) and off we go to school:-
My other two children were not well enough to go to school today. They both have nasty colds that seem to get far worse towards the end of day and by bed time they have headaches and sore throats and sore ears that wake me up in the middle of the night. I had to leave them in bed to go and teach a class. By lunchtime they both seemed to be far better. Well, I’m assuming that’s the case because look what teenage son made himself for lunch (four pieces of toast and two tins of beans – which doesn’t bode well for the smell of my sitting room later):-
My 9 year old read me an essay he wrote yesterday. He had to write about a group of people, real or fictional. How lovely is this?
My Family
My mum has brown straight hair, blue eyes and is very pretty
(I rudely interrupt him here to point out that in fact my eyes are brown and he says “oh well, WHATEVER, it doesn’t matter” and he carries on)…
“She is very caring and loves everyone. She is a very sensitive person. Her job is stretching people.
My brother has blond hair and blue eyes and is extremely cool.
He is very sensitive but very lazy. He is the captain of his football team.
My sister has long brown hair.
Sometimes she can be really annoying but I love her so much. Her favourite sport is netball.
My dad has no hair, blue eyes and is very nice.
He was nearly a professional cricket player.
The end.

October 6, 2009What a great essay – he's only nine?! A writer/novelist/journalist is born!
At nine, my essays were of the standard "my family is nice, my kat is nice, I like sweets…"
I also enjoyed "Her job is stretching people" – the mind boggles.
Fat, frumpy and fifty...
October 6, 2009..so what else does one need to know….says it all really, all individuals, a barmy mum, sister and bro, but he loves you all!!

October 6, 2009Yes, DD, I have to say "stretching people" sounds a bit dodgy x

Bloody hell that is a lot of beans.
Have you seen the pic of me in my wetsuit? I thought I would have it taken to help motivate me. People have been really reassuring so I am glad I did. Can you recommend an exercise for me:
