Lawrence Dallaglio helped to raise £1.1m for the “Help For Heroes” charity I mentioned a few posts ago. 52,254 people watched the charity rugby match and together they all helped to raise money for wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. The money is going to build a new swimming pool at Headley Court, a rehabilitation centre (surely swimming pools don’t cost a million pounds???).

The stadium was not full to capacity. In fact another 30,000 people could have bought tickets. That is such a shame. I don’t think there was enough marketing/advertising about the game. I didn’t know about it until I stumbled upon (with a little tip-off) their training session. Anyway, isn’t it up to the government to raise money to support our wounded troops? If they’re going to take the decision to send them off to other countries to lose limbs, surely it shouldn’t be down to a bunch of rugby players to raise the money. Same with the governments treatment of the Gurkhas. Good for Joanna Lumley for threatening to give up her British passport as a protest. Maybe the government should have offered to match what the rugby players raised and then suggest it become an annual event.

Lawrence Dallaglio does a huge amount of work for charity. Offering his support and name to numerous different causes. I have seen him training recently for a two week cycle through the Pyrenees to raise money for “Bliss”, a premature baby charity.

Anyway, all the above, leads me to my piece de resistance (if you can call a photograph that). Even with the thousands of you pleading with me to reveal my true identity I feel it is unecessary for the moment. Sorry. All you get is a gorgeous picture of Lawrence and my eye. He’s only 36 and clearly very happily married with kids, BUT don’t you think it’s spooky that our eyes are completely the same identical colour??

Hey Lulu, you look gorgeous. I can tell that from your eye and that little bit of your hair – and your glowing skin. Aah. Memories of being young and gorgeous. M xx
PS. He doesn’t look bad either, and what a good effort that was.

Not at all what I pictured you to look like!!! At least I’d have thought you’d have more than one eye!

What was that I’d said earlier – drinking and commenting. Hmm… not sure…

God help me in the morning remember who I’ve commented to…

    XO ExAfrica…

I met Lawrence about ten years ago in a hotel lift in Glasgow. After the third time of bumping into each other in same lift in one day we started to laugh about it and got chatting.
He was lovely. I have never seen anyone so broad and tall!
