LIFESTYLE HOTEL: AMALFI COAST

Our summer holiday has begun. Woohoo. This year I decided to go away just with my three children – now my son is away at university we don’t all get to spend much time together on our own so this a very rare and very precious opportunity for us all to hang out together.

Of course in order to get my children to agree to hang out just with their mother I have had to make them an offer they couldn’t possibly refuse – we are in the most ridiculously lovely hotel on the Amalfi Coast – absolutely stunning. i have been here before in fact – a few years ago with a girlfriend – funnily enough it was much cheaper – we shared a room and I was only paying for myself. Now I’ve got far too many mouths to feed expensively, but oh well, this is one of those moments where I feel it’s worth all the money in the world to have them to myself. The hotel is the ultimate Lifestyle hotel – all white with fabulous glass sculptures – tbh it’s a bit of a romantic retreat so I’m feeling a little out of place – I’m the only non- couple by the looks of things but I DON’T CARE.

Lets see if I’m still saying that at the end of our week together.

It wasn’t the cleverest thing in the world to stay in the country specifically for a very good friend’s BIG birthday party and fly out incredibly early on the Sunday morning. it meant that most of my family group were a little bit pissed – which to be honest is never a good look at 4.15am at Gatwick airport.

Not sure what our plans are. To do as little as possible I suspect. Which won’t be very interesting to my youngest child who doesn’t find lying about reading books in the sun the most scintillating of activities. So we’ll see….
