My day has got marginally better. I have fed five children, cleaned the kitchen. Watched a basketball match. Been to the dentist. Booked a doctor’s appointment. Stared at my tax form. Not paid any bills. Helped with homework. Written loads of emails and read none of my book and pottered around the blogosphere time wasting.
My youngest son is outside trying to draw a picture of the moon and stressing about not being able to do his quadrilateral homework. My daughter has finally found her bag – in the laundry basket, in a cupboard, under loads of dirty washing. Obviously. Teenage son is somewhere in the house pretending to do homework but wired up to TV, laptop, phone and ipod all at the same time.
Things have improved dramatically for my daughter since this morning. Not only has she found her bag but after her dental appointment I have never seen anyone smile, literally from ear to ear like she did. Just beautiful. Her braces were finally removed after almost two years. She is ecstatic and not only that but she now has perfect teeth. Lucky old her.
I on the other hand do not have perfect teeth (or skin) but am bracing myself for a meeting with my ex husband and my teenage son tonight about his university choices. “I’m not going to go to Oxford or Cambridge, I’ve heard the nightlife is shit” he said earlier. “I’m only going to go to Leeds, Newcastle or Manchester. They’ve got great nightlife and I might bump into Cheryl Cole”. Well. That’s a good start then. I can see the meeting going well when he tells his dad that.
He also told me he was really disappointed with his Cheryl Cole calender I bought him for Christmas “because she’s not naked”.

January 26, 2010Reading your ‘monday morning’ I thought, crikey, I don’t know how you do it. I really don’t! Perhaps because you have children to make you laugh! Good luck with your ex tonight. I erm, look forward to hearing how it goes! Very well I hope x

January 26, 2010How did it go with the choices? Its a pretty tough decision to make!
I went to Surrey, which is great (at least for Science, engineering etc) – the main reason I went was to do a professional training year (hence why I ended up in Finland) and my sis went to Manchester and did something to do with History of Art – she loved it so much she is still living and working there! My school was all for putting me up to go to Cambridge, but I didn’t feel like I wanted the pressure and also for the subject I was doing it wasn’t the best and the structure of the course didn’t interest me so much. I chose to stay out of London because I couldn’t afford the living expenses (rent, travel etc), my father couldn’t support me much so I had to go cheaper (although I’m not sure Guildford is that much cheaper). Neither did I want to work in the term time through my degree, because I felt that I was at Uni to study, rather than work silly hours for the priviledge of not being able to study as much!
Anyway good luck!

January 26, 2010Good grief, sounds like you had A Day. Luckily I only read both posts today because, I think, if I’d read your earlier post, I may have been stressed out for you too. I’m glad it all became (a bit) less frenzied. And… aaah, I remember having my braces off. Bliss. That was a gazillion years ago, mind x
