I am thinking about making a house out of Ikea bags and boxes. They would be infinitely easier to put together than any of their bits of furniture. I also seem to acquire one more each time I walk out of a door, so I have nearly enough to make a small bungalow. I can hardly walk in a straight line now I am so laden with bright blue bags. Had another Ikean disaster yesterday. Builder Bloke very kindly offered to put up the loft bed was put together in my 7 year olds bedroom. It was looking good, but on page 23 for some reason they tell you to turn the whole thing round. Do they not realise that some people have rooms that are too small to turn a bed around in? Thought about removing door frame and knocking through wall, but after much cursing, the whole thing had to be dismantled and reassembled the other way round.
Had parent/teacher meeting yesterday for my 7 year old. As always I slightly dread it because he is so much more complicated than my other two. The meeting took me right back to his nursery days, when his teacher suggested he go to “anger management” classes. This was after the nativity play (the one in which he told me he was going to be a “pump-king” when actually he was one of the three kings) when half way through he climbed down from the stage and sauntered over to me – “can I have some chewing gum?” he whispered loudly. “No, of course you can’t, kings don’t chew gum, get back on stage immediately”…..this resulted in a fully blown tantrum where he basically took all his clothes off and rolled about the aisle.
She thinks maybe art classes would help control his anger, or that perhaps we should look at family therapy. I’m not doing bloody family therapy. We’ll get confused with the Simpsons. I told her that he had always been unable to control his anger and that I wasn’t sure how much of it was to do with the current circumstances. Of course I am aware that children don’t want their parents to split up and that it would probably be best if we had a house to live in. It must be extremely difficult for him to deal with everything that is going on. He was too young really to be aware of what was going on and whilst I fully accept that he absolutely must be affected, I am not sure that his behaviour is as a direct result of circumstances. It’s very easy to blame circumstances. My view is don’t be a victim of circumstance – which is perhaps a little harsh. Anyway, I have discussed it with my ex and we are going to try and calm him down a little ourselves first.
Got another friend on Facebook that’s not related and one of my original friends has sent me 200 Aquarium coins so now I can have 8 fish for her or my aquarium. Isn’t that great? Thank you friend. What aquarium? I don’t understand. I have also been “Superpoked” which sounds more fun than it actually was…
