I can’t quite believe that I am going to Australia to stay with my great friend who left last year and whose son is the one my youngest son has been desperately missing. He’s so excited.  We’re going tonight. Seems a little extreme now my entire house is in disarray after Friday night teen party and I am trying to pack things. My teenage son is off to spend the week with my brother doing important things at the hospital for work experience. Which is completely brilliant for him and absolutely amazingly brilliant that my brother has managed to sort. I have been telling him how much he should appreciate all his efforts and what sort of things he should say, do, etc and he finally said last night “mum, I thought actually I’d just go with a really bad attitude and be rude to everybody and not learn or appreciate anything”……OK. Point taken. I am moving a friend in to the house for the time I’m away to look after the cats in case anybody was thinking about burgling me.

I am not at all prepared. Mentally or physically. We are off to the land of the beautiful people and I’m just not, well, beautiful. I am blue. For a start. Should have got a fake tan. I am hairy and now have no time to sort. I have hideous feet and my friend has told me to “bring flip flops”. “BRING FLIP FLOPS??” ARE YOU KIDDING?? I’d get arrested for indecent exposure. I wonder if Uggs do a form of furry flip flop where you can’t tell which bit of fur is stuck to foot or shoe and can’t see toes. Must check. I really should have done a whole “get ready for summer” beauty thing. TOO LATE.

My youngest son has written me a list. He’s playing football today so needs me to pick him up a few things. Here are his instructions:-

T-Shirt (that fits me)
Deodorant (that smells nice)
Leather Plane Book (WH Smith)
Vests
Fun stuff (for the plane)
Shorts (cool ones)
Adidas Shampoo (Waitrose)
Hair gel (good)

Please try as much stuff on the list as you can. Thx.

Better get going then!!

Hope you have a great time…at least the in flght stuff will keep the kids amused, dont worry about the flip flops most people dont look down at the feet and treat yourself to a pedicure while you are there. Switch off from the X factor troubles. At the moment am wearing my fleece and Ugg boots so unfortuatly cant show the tan off much.X

Um – who told you that Oz was the land of beautiful people?
    They lied.
    SA is.
So go, feet and all, and enjoy.

While you are there unload the kids and take yourself off for a wax, pedicure and …most important a massage.

Just a bog standard, non hurty, non daft gimmicks like stones etc, lovely gentle rub, a beautician is fine, don’t need any fancy certificates.

You forget what it is like to be touched when you separate, it will help, you’ll relax, your nerve endings will sing, you might cry with the release of tension (they are used to it), you’ll float and then return to earth without a bang, still feeling a million times better.

then enjoy the rest of the holiday

Take care, have fun, do something for you.
