I am in awe of Ariana Grande after her One Love Manchester Concert. For a 23 year old girl to pull something so unbelievably brilliant off in just a week is mind-blowing. What a beautiful girl she is and incredibly talented singer and whilst she got some abuse for flying straight back home (mainly from Piers Morgan), it would have been a little too soon to go and visit her traumatised and wounded fans, so coming back just two weeks after the tragic events that took place at the end of her concert was a far better move.
I watched it with all my children and so if we were a cross section of the world, then she managed to do a miraculous thing. We were just a snap shot of the 14.5 million people who tuned in to watch the One Love tribute concert for the victims of the Manchester terror attack and word on the street is that it might well now become an annual event.
Incredibly emotional for everyone watching, I can’t imagine how those who lost a child, or family member must have been feeling, but the messages of love and unity were so moving and brave. All the other acts, all the people in the audience, the policemen and women dancing with the crowd, it just couldn’t have been better and no one could fault her for her incredible achievement and of course raising over £2m for the victims is astonishing.
Liam Gallagher begged his brother to attend I hear and then tweeted “he’s once again shown his true f***ing colours.” Such a shame as that would have been an incredible moment for Manchester, but oh well….the message was loud and clear. We will not be cowed, we will not live in fear and love will always conquer hate.
WOOHOO ARIANA you are amazing and what’s more you’ve made the older generation proud of Generation Z. You have done more to show what young people are capable of in supporting Manchester in that short amount of time with your hugs, your humility, your strength and your steadfast belief in the fact that good will win than anyone I’ve ever come across. This has shown social media and the hugging generation at it’s best. Spreading the love is the best thing about social media and you have shown us all just how powerful a tool this is in a truly positive way.
I loved her duet with Miley Cyrus of “Don’t Dream It’s Over” was fantastic – I love Crowded House.
