The news headlines yesterday in Melbourne included the story of a man who had been mauled by a wombat and was seriously ill in hospital and the sighting of a redback spider in a Melbourne suburb.

WELL. WE SAW A REDBACK SPIDER THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY TOO. IN A MELBOURNE SUBURB and we didn’t make it into the papers.

I am going to post the picture again. In case you missed it the first time, because I don’t think it has been given the kudos it deserves. It actually dropped on our guide’s head and then casually walked up the wall next to us.

    Maybe a picture of a funnel web would have more impact. The red back “just” makes you sweat, run a temperature and feel sick but looks rather lovely. The funnel web on the other hand ….
