I don’t know why my New Year’s resolutions consist of doing LOADS of new things – I am wondering if perhaps instead I should be hoping for more of a merry-go-round sort of year rather than another roller coaster year. It’s been pretty full on for some time now.
For those of you who don’t know the background of why I started my blog – it was during the time that I was newly divorced and totally traumatised and I found that writing it all down helped me hugely. I would write about my ex husband and kids and stuff…..then I wrote about meeting Builder Bloke and the wonderful time we had together initially, I wrote about my ex husband’s new girlfriend and wondered who she might be, wrote about meeting Builder Bloke’s ex before we went away with all the children and about how I inadvertently gave her my ex husband’s telephone number, wrote about the shock of learning that my ex husband’s new girlfriend was Builder Bloke’s ex wife and how I couldn’t cope……wrote about our subsequent break-up and all the excessive drama surrounding our situation, wrote about their engagement and BB going mad…..2009 was a massively turbulent year.
Then, in 2010 the high’s and lows went something like this:-
December: Spilt up with Builder Bloke (again)
January: Father ill. Mother had major back surgery.
February: Took my friend to meet the Duchess of Cornwall at my friend’s fashion show
March: Escaped to Australia. Got stuck on the way home owing to Volcanic Ash disaster
April: Finally got home to find my friend was desperately ill and I couldn’t see her. My son had an operation, but I was still stuck so wasn’t here.
May: My friend dies. Builder Bloke and I get back together
June: My father back in hospital.
July: My ex husband marries Builder Blokes ex wife. My teenage son has a car crash and writes off car. We have to manage some of the kids feeling extremely discombobulated/traumatised.
August: We all get together for my father’s 70th birthday celebrations. Consequently I miss one of my best friend’s second weddings.
September:Close friend has a mastectomy. I spend whole month being dizzy from some unknown source and struggling to teach my classes.
October: Father ill
November: My father dies
December: Memorial for my father. Son’s 18th. We all struggle through Christmas for the sake of the children. BB and I on the brink again.
Pretty big year. All round.

January 5, 2011Yes, it’s been a bit mad to say the least and yes, almost thought about adding the Cybermummy distraction as it was brilliant for that very reason Lx

January 6, 2011Best wishes for a ‘smaller’ year! My year was amazingly dull apart from the move back to England which seems to have taken six months out of my life – but am loving it!
