My daughter is going to a party tonight. She has been getting ready since about midday. Preparations include the following:-

– Has a bath
– Wash hair and de-fluff
– Two friends arrive as essential to get ready together
– Discussions about what clothes to wear, including which bra
– Mutual hair drying and curl-fest.
– Make-up session, which involves recent craze for fluorescent strips on face.
– Each do a manicure and paint nails
– General levels of chat and excitement build up slowly throughout six hour prep.
– Discussions about what to wear again as everything swapped.
– Bit of time out for Facebook and food
– Re-application of make-up and packing of bags
– Over spray of Abercrombie and Fitch perfume
– Discussion about who will be there and boy tactics
– Vast amounts of hideous singing and dance moves
– Ready (as they’ll ever be)

Teenage son is also going to a party tonight. Preparations include the following:-

– Changing behind a tree into jeans after cricket match
– Splash of deodorant
– Quick check of hair in car reflection
– Ready

Some things never change.

I would just like to point out that while you and I went by that model in days gone by, brother no. 2 took longer than both or us combined to get ready (and still does).

    I don’t know if I’m relieved I’ve got a girl or not!
