I have managed to escape for a few days with a friend to the South of France which is just so beautifully cool it’s ridiculous. Quiet and peaceful too which is not the way I normally see summer holidays (pre kids schools breaking up).

We took a ferry to St Tropez yesterday that gently cruised around all the gorgeous lush islands with the distinct pale terracotta coloured houses built into the hills – passed Sacha Distel and Brigitte Bardot’s houses, passed a dolphin and passed a guy who was wearing a pair of jet boots attached to his jet ski who could literally not just walk on water, but fly…

So whilst in fact we will be doing a bit of work down here, it’s just not the same when you can do it under azure blue skies or whilst sitting in a cafe overlooking the sea and surrounded by divine looking people trying desperately to soak up some of their cool cells by some sort of osmosis. I suspect that it’s not the sort of osmosis that involves drinking a gorgeous bottle of rose at lunchtime. But hey, will give it a try.

From the ferry we took a bus to Pampelonne Beach home to the ubercool Club Cinq en Cinq which is one of my favourite places in the world and I would like to live there and have a regular lunchtime table wearing a big hat and high heels.

Here is my lovely friend looking quite the part:-

We had a drink there and then walked along the beach to Tahiti Beach where we ate lunch at the Bora Bora restaurant VIA I have to tell you a very unexpected nudist beach full of old people with no body hair letting it all hang out literally. Didn’t know where to look.

Gorgeous girlies in neon on the beach:-

Heaven. My friend took a photo of happy me admiring the sea view, glass of wine, bowl of crudites, sunshine, sand, peace, lovely:-

Off to work at the pool now!

One of my favourite holidays, when I was 19, was to St Maxime, just across the bay from St Tropez. We stayed in a villa which overlooked the bay and could see Al Fayed’s yacht in the dock.

It’s such a beautiful place, I would love to go back with my kids.

We saw Al Fayed’s yacht en route – must be there every year!! Wonder if it was the same one Diana used to sit on? Lx

I need a job like that; sitting on a beach pretending to ‘work’. Like Laura, as youngsters we used to stay at Le Muy, which is up above Ste Maxime and go down to the beach there….it was very glitzy, but not as crowded as St Trop. Not been back there for over 25 years – it has probably all changed now (for the worst)!
hope you’re back for the weekend!!!!
