My gorgeous daughter is going to go far. I have had YEARS of having to ask her to stop wearing my clothes – not sure it’s actually made any difference – especially my Uggs and she has recently totally ruined a much loved pair of wedge sandals. Consequently, I have had to resort to hiding new things – TIGHTS now that’s another really annoying thing she does. She takes all my nice pairs. I’m sort of used to it, but not having had a sister means that I’m not very good at sharing.
That said, I know for sure that when she leaves for university I am going to miss all that stealing and foraging she does in my room. So I don’t really mind. It’s not a big deal and anyway, I’m being lenient on her because she hasn’t been having an easy time of late – nothing I can go into on my blog because it’s her story to tell, not mine, but she’s battling on through and learning some tough lessons about life.
All I can do is be here for her and offer support and advice in as many dollops as she needs, interspersed with giving her space and time to let her get on with making her own choices in life.
Last night she had (another) party to go to – she came into the kitchen all ready to go wearing, not only the brand new top she had bought me for Christmas that I haven’t even worn yet but also my boots. Obviously that wasn’t all she was wearing, but I don’t think anything else was mine…her justification for doing so? “Mum, the theme of the party is IDOLS and as you are my Number One Idol, I thought I’d go as you!”
Nice try.
She got away with it though.

January 13, 2014You’re obviously a much nicer mum than me because I would give her a right telling off. It’s a bit rude to just put someone’s clothes on without asking first isn’t it? Or am I being impossibly rigid?
Mine (not just the girl) take things from my closet, don’t tell me and don’t even bother to put them back. This past weekend I found tweezers, a hair brush, cotton wool balls, and some (expensive) conditioner in the boy’s bathroom. Grrr….

January 13, 2014I KNOW!! It’s infuriating isn’t it? I agree generally it is – normally she would ask but wearing my new present was beyond asking…..anyway – I don’t really mind most stuff – sometimes I go mad about certain things – depends. Agree things like tweezers and mascara REALLY annoying. Lx

January 15, 2014Now my eldest daughter lives in Germany I have loads of stuff, my younger daughter wouldn’t want my clothes or make up for anything. She’s a scary looking Goth at the moment, middle aged mummy stuff doesn’t really go!
