Thankfully all the members of my brothers’ stag weekend in Barcelona made it safely back into the country late last night. Although three were missing until late the next day after a very drunken night out and one got mugged by loads of blokes and lost his wallet and his phone. I was more than a little worried at 4pm yesterday when I texted them to say “is everybody OK now?” and the reply was “no, we’re still missing one from the night before who has no phone and no passport”.

Two hours later an updated text said “Found him. He’s still drunk”.

I’ve talked to them now. My brother described himself as feeling like a tooth that was barely hanging on by a thread….a great, but very liquid time was had by all and now my mother especially can breathe a little more easily that we still have everybody we need for the wedding next week.

So, after a fantastic hen night on Saturday, I was hoping for a quiet night in last night. Instead I got 12 teenagers staying the night. I’d said my son could have a few friends round – I want him to feel he can bring friends round and feel relaxed. He told me on Friday that he had a girlfriend!! His first one, so I really wanted to meet her and having girls around makes such a difference because they don’t mind talking to me….Builder Bloke was here cooking sausages for them all at midnight and chatting away which was really lovely. It’s just that at 3.30am when they were still all up watching a film I was beginning to feel like I’d made a mistake. It’s trying to get the right balance. Next time I won’t let them all stay the night. Too many of them to cope with.

My youngest child said to me “do you think his girlfriend has brought her pyjamas?”

They’re all a little edgy now. Their GCSE’s come out on Thursday. Fingers crossed all round. Lets hope that wasn’t the last soiree my son will be allowed to have for the rest of his life.

URGH that sounds horribly like Mr MAM's stag – right down to the muggings… Barcelona should be on the banned list for boys' weeknds away

Glad to hear that they have all been safely returned to the fold

Oh God, it'll be that "can we sleep in the same bed?" moment next. I went all "Not under my roof" the first time it happened to me. I suppose they went off and did it in a car or a back entry instead. I'm known for my logical approach.
