This Saturday, The Legends of Rugby will turn out at Twickenham in a unique show of support for “Help for Heroes”, a charity launched in 2007 to provide much needed funds for the care and rehabilitation of British service personnel injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lawrence Dallaglio’s side line up against a XV captained by former Wales Centre, Scott Gibbs. Rugby stars from around the world, including Martin Johnson, Jonah Lomu, Will Greenwood and other great players will join with the best of the Armed Forces players to raise money for the wounded. So far the charity has raised £10 million and initially the money is going towards improving the facilities at RAF Headley Court, a rehabilitation centre for wounded soldiers.

The aim on Saturday is to raise £1 million. The stadium seats 82,000 spectators, the venue is free, the players are turning out for free, the whole ticket price goes to help the wounded. Lets hope the event sells out.

This evening I had the privilege of watching them practice for the game. I can’t tell you how excited I was. I LOVE ALL THOSE MEN. I’m almost tempted to wave my anonymity on account of the fact that I have got a GORGEOUS photo of Lawrence with his arm around me (which is now on my screensaver – how old am I?)….but I’m quite sure that you’ll all be happy with the other ones that I took.

Here is the one that “Help For Heroes” should be using for their marketing:-

Here is the one when Lawrence spotted me in the crowd:-

Here is the one of them all coming over to say hello to me:-

Wish I had been there. I didnt know about it and that’s a shame. As you say better marketing may have helped but I suppose it all costs.
    Great cause too
