Saturday morning and I’m in the mood to do something interesting with my children. Large son is watching the rugby and we’ve just all watched the video of Mike Tindall behaving exceptionally badly whilst drunk at the dwarf throwing bar – I’ve heard he’s been dropped as Captain as a result…..not good. Poor Zara. Very worryingly Builder Bloke can’t see what all the fuss is about at all.
Anyway, I said to my youngest son “Grandma says there’s a really interesting exhibition at a museum all about making things – shall we go?”…..
“what sort of things?” he said suspiciously
“well, apparently there is a huge crocheted brown bear with glass teeth and a bicycle made out of mahogany and somebody made out of pins”…..
I’m losing him I can see that so I up the ante a little…
“AND APPARENTLY there is an AMAZING COFFIN all the way from Ghana in the shape of a LION!!”
“Mum, I’d really rather just lie here and imagine all those things”
“Yes but it’s not the same, you don’t know what you’ll learn and see there”
“Yes I do, for example I bet you there’s going to be a tiny baby made out of marzipan”.
Good grief.
I give up.
