We are shortly going to be setting off to join my family in the build up to my brother’s wedding tomorrow. I spoke to him earlier. He sounds calm and strong. Which is the way it should be. We’ve got a big family dinner tonight involving my parents, brothers, children, Builder Bloke, uncle and aunt from Australia, old old family friends from Canada – it will be really lovely.
I can’t wait for the wedding. I’m trying to ignore the fact that I’m having a major clothing trauma because it’s not about me and my mother keeps pointing out that nobody cares. After a friend mentioned that she couldn’t possibly wear silk because it crumples very easily and I will sweat in it, I am now panicking as have a vision of doing the reading in the church with enormous wet patches under my arms. Another friend suggested attaching squeedgee mops to each armpit ha ha ha, but I was seriously wondering if I could get away with teeny weeny sanitary pads (without wings obviously) stuck under each arm (but think will be wrong way round to help). Think I am going to have to wear a t-shirt under dress to absorb sweat which may have the opposite effect because I will be twice as hot.
Oh no. what to do.
THEN clearly my sweat drenched dress will have to be changed for evening, before I “get on down” (as I like to say to my children in an embarrassing mother sort of way) and create even more sweat. Another friend has lent me a beautiful maxi-dress, but I don’t know how many people will be changing in the evening – and I don’t want to look like I’m trying to pretend I’m the bride, so now I’ll have to bring loads of stuff “just in case” and in my teeny weeny clutch bag I will somehow have to squeeze several dress changes, absorbent pads, camera, tissues (for eyes not armpits), make-up (waterproof) and other such girly detritus.
Will take LOADS of photos. Have a lovely weekend and as Janelle would say, lots of big squeedgee, love everybody because I’m drunk at a wedding sort of hugs and kisses all round xx

August 30, 2009Now I'm sorry, but unless you have some specific, embarrassing person problem that you omitted to tell me over muchas mojitos, I can't imagine you could possibly sweat enough to ruin a dress. And God forbit that one of the panty liners came adrift on your way to do you reading (argh!). Have loads of fun and take loads of pics!! x
