WEEK 13 OF LONDON LOCKDOWN
Right, so I’m going to leave my weekly lockdown reports there because I’m boring even myself now. Nothing additional to report and lockdown seems to be all but over if Bournemouth beach yesterday was anything to go by. Half a million visitors on the hottest day of the year so far and a major incident declared. With the fear factor dwindling by the day, I suspect it’s not going to be easy to contain the masses. On that basis, I might just invite all my friends to socially distance in my garden this weekend a la Glastonbury style:-
Pubs are reopening next weekend. YAY! Not sure how the new 1m measures are going to work and their contact tracing system is still woefully inadequate. Seriously, taking down people’s names and telephone numbers? That seems a bit primitive and ineffectual. Not many people seem to be taking the whole thing very seriously anymore. Which is quite understandable given the amount of time and distruption we have had. I just hope we don’t end up with a second spike and have to go back into our caves like they’ve had to do in Beijing.
I haven’t been into a “non essential” shop yet. Not sure how that’s all going. I imagine, particularly with this warm weather that business is still slow. Maybe the rainy weekend ahead might get people into the shopping centres.
Public trust in Boris is at an all time low (I’m guessing). He is so the wrong man for the job…we kind of need a competent detail person right now and he is not big on detail. Just bluster, backtracking and U-turns at the moment.
Still enjoying the deer in the park – never seen so many of the big boys sitting together under the shade of the tree:-
And then the tropical scenes:-
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there has been no home baking for two weeks, no Friday Family Night, no serious cleaning, it’s all just gone a bit wrong…or maybe a bit right as we venture out and about again. I’m still doing my complimentary Pilates Zoom sessions for the office, looking like an idiot, but oh well.
Sparkling Sunday is going to have to stop soon as I’m not sure our livers can take much more and I’m preparing it for the pub! Also I’m not having to keep morale boosted in the same way as before, the children have got their friends back to do that job for them:-
