Worrying amount set aside to cope with the Coronavirus – £30 billion!! “To protect our country and our people”. They are obviously expecting it virus to be hard hitting and a short term (hopefully) significant disruption to be coming very soon. I suspect the Government wanted to release the budget, whereby small businesses, statutory sick pay and the NHS funding were reassured, before moving to Stage Two of the clampdown. I suspect schools et al will close soon and life will be very strange for us all for a while. Especially given a Health MP who has been hanging out with Boris Johnson has just been tested positive.
This is the Government looking to see off Labour for a very long time.
I think Rishi has done a good job, especially given he only had a month to sort it all out.
